How do I add a domain name as a parked domain to my hosting? Print

A "parked domain" is described as an alternate domain name which points to your primary website. When a visitor enters either your primary domain name or the "parked" domain name, they will be shown the primary domain name website.

In order to setup a parked domain, you will need to cover a few steps, but it is a relatively simple process to follow:

Register your Domain Name:
1. If you have already registered your additional domain name, go to step 2. To register your new domain, go to our Domain Registration portal and enter the domain you would like to purchase. Follow the steps in the order process to the checkout and make the required payment.

Point your domain to the Aztech Networks Name Servers:
2. Once you have your domain name registration email, you will need to login to your domain name management system to ensure the domain name is pointing at the Aztech Networks DNS servers.
For Aztech Networks domain customers only,
 - Go to http://www.an.net.au/Domains.php and enter the domain name, username, and password from your registration email.
 - Once you are logged in, click on your domain name to go to the configuration for the domain.
 - Now click on the tab at the top of the page called "Manage Name Servers/Hosts", to access the name server configuration.
 - In the Primary Name Server field, enter "ns1.an.net.au" (without the quotes).
 - In the Secondary Name Server field, enter "ns2.an.net.au" (without the quotes).
 - Now click "Save" to apply the changes. Once the page refreshes, check that the Primary and Secondary name servers match the two entries entered above.

For customers with other domain name registrars, you will need to login to your account and set your name servers as follows:

 - Primary Name Server: ns1.an.net.au

 - Secondary Name Server: ns2.an.net.au

Access cPanel to assign your Parked Domain:

3. You will now need to login to your hosting management cPanel account.  If you aren't sure how to access it, the full details can be found in your "Hosting Account Welcome Email" that you should have received when your hosting was setup. If you don't have this detail, log a support ticket including your domain name and we can get the details resent to you.
 - Once you are logged in, click on the icon labelled "Parked Domains" to access the configuration page.
 - Enter your new domain name in the text box and click "Add Domain" to apply.

Congratulations, your "parked domain" setup is complete. If you have just registered the domain name, it may take some time for the name to be advertised over the internet, so it may not work immediately.

We hope this helped make your hosting experience with Aztech Networks a little easier.
