What is a Sitemap?

Hi Megan,

A sitemap is essentially an index for search engines to use when they visit your site using automated scans (called spiders as they run around the web Smiling )

In the sitemap you define what you want the spider to index and what you want it not to look at. Some don't honour it, but the reputable ones will.
